FuseSmooches to one and all!!

Ebdim9th- Long time no see!! Judoktty joined the Army and ships out to North Carolina for Boot Camp on May 13th :( And, um, nope. I don't think I wanna go there! I would, however, go visit her on Oahu if that is where she gets stationed!

Ooooh, a Golo sighting! waves to Golo

puts a knickel in the Jukebox and presses L-4. The strains of "Stand By Me" begins playing

Oh Darlin' Darlin'
Stand by me.
Won't you, stand, stand by me...

for Sawyer from Kate after he went with Locke instead of Jack

she then drops another knickel in and presses O-8 for Otis Reddings' "Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay"

for Jack from Locke after he blew up the submarine

Sittin' on the dock by the bay
watching the time ro-olll away....

ETA Howdy to chasart, Yukai, OMF, Sherry, Patty, brig, Gage, Yoso, halfrek and her alter-ego ModHalfrek, lurkers, nOObs, and you all everybody!!

Hey Patty... from Duma Key: "He listened to our story with mounting amazement, but no real disbelief; this was a young man, I had to remind myself, that had been raised on shows like The X-Files and Lost."

OMG, if Billy Joel is a LOST fan then it's Los 'Lagelinos, suntanned and jaded...

Greetinz Golly no tax-torture for you today?

And Sherry, how did you manage to get two states worth of taxes saddle on ya?

AyEye, I always think that there's an RPG waiting in the ether somewhere with the name Battlestar GaLOSTica written all over it... I just is too lazy to start a thread foah it myownself...

DiamondLife1985 you really should get the BSG dvd's... no regrets, I dont think...

I spied a Velvety Susan, Hamster Queen around here somewhere.

Where ya shippin' off to judoktty? And is MissPants trying to invite herself along?

Pattay, I think, myself, that Jacob is outside any particular heirarchy, as he is more unstuck in time, flashing forwards and backwards so fast and so constantly you usually can't see him, or he appears as someone else, than anybody else in our story so far...

DiamondLife1985, gage, loca, brig, Gael Garcia Bernal is mighty tasty in person as well. Ran into him last year at the AFI film fest, he was quite popular with everyone (press, fans, staff, etc).

halfrek, I finished my taxes at around 2am, and now I'm at work, and I'm rather exhausted. I hope no one calls today and asks for anything complicated, like large family groups traveling together, or extended stays pre or post cruise, or better yet, asks me anything about cruise lines I rarely work with. Oh wait, I owe a call to Seabourn today, for a passenger who only wants Suites, on long cruises, but wants to save money. Yeah, like that's going to happen on a luxury cruise line. sheesh.

Oh dear, it's only 10am and I'm already grumbling about work. I want sleep and I want it now. I'm starting a countdown until I can get some sleep.

6 hrs 35 min until NAP TIME!

The old man wanders into the Work & Lurk Cafe pushing a cart loaded with doughnuts, crullers, coffee, tea, juice, 1040 forms, 1099s, W-2s, and a calculator... "have you all done your taxes?"... then puts a nickel in the jukebox because it's Tuneful Tuesday and selects Q2 Patsy Cline's 'Crazy' for Hurley... or maybe Locke... or maybe Jack... or maybe Libby... or maybe Eko... or... heck, it could apply to almost any of them... then pours himself a Lost-Radio-sized coffee and takes his usual seat in the corner...

It's Lost Radio Day!!

It's also Tuneful Tuesday, so put a nickel in the jukebox and select a song appropriate for Lost.

Good Morning Fuselage
You lead us along
My love and me as we sing

La la la lo lo...
Sabba sibby sabba;
Nooby abba nabba

Nooby abba nabba
Early morning singin' song.

Big Hellos to You All Everybody - hope everyone is doing well & getting ready to come out of hiatus hibernation... good news about the 2 hour finale, I think. exciting!

As for me, tomorrow is a big day - I'll be finding out around 11am if one of my desserts (as some of you might've figured out I am a bartender mostly but baking is a pretty big passion of mine) is going to be chosen to be served at an event at my restaurant this week -- keep your fingers crossed!

Gage & Loca : **swoon** Gael Garcia Bernal = some kind of perfect... uber-talented & also all kindsa pretty...

Patty: nice song choice!

Loca! I missed you knightette! I agree with you agree with Patty on the whole light/dark Hawkins/Abondon thing...that does work to a certain extent...like Hawkins is for keeping the island secret, to keep it the way it is and Abandon is with Widmore in trying to uncover the island, and change it to their liking...but who knows, right?!!??

Looks like LOST has added a 6th hour and will air as a 2 hour season finale after sweeps ends...looks like Grey's Anatomy will air on the last night of sweeps as a 2 hour finale as well, which means we will have to wait 2 weeks after the 4th episode to get the finale...I say COOOOOOOOLLL!!! more LOST!!!!!

By the by, I adore Gael Garcia Bernal also, and although I still very much need to rent Amores Perros (yep, ya spelled it right, dude!), I LOVE Motorcycle Diaries (great music in there, too), and Y Tu Mama Tambien (NOOOOT FOR THE KIDS (it can get a l'il hot), but well acted by all.) Oh! And in the vein of Spanish-language films, I finally saw Volver, which I liked a whole lot, too. Pan's Labyrinth has gotta be next! :D And I'm sure many more...

Hmmmm...that Hawkins/Abbadon, light/dark theory is intriguing and definitely rings possible. I wonder if a connection will be made indeed. I like the idea of cosmic police being bantered round and about - police enforce, they don't MAKE the rules...ie, Hawkins' inability to stop Mr. Red Shoes from dying and her resigned sadness when it happened. I wonder if at some point she was psyche-wise where Des was in S3...WANTING to change things but powerless.

OMIGOSH - Pattycakes and Tabby and Gage (OH MY!!) - love love love to you my Dharmaknights! The hurley bird keeps bombing the polar bear with mangoes.

Tabby hon, I'm so glad you mentioned the further podcast adventures - last time I checked dey weren't dere, so it looks like I'll have wonderfulness to catch up on, yaaay! :D

OMG - Patty, POV is soooooooo very key, you said it girl - and the PTB's are keeping us on our toes by doling out those different views so we don't get too smart too fast, so theorizoring is damn difficult and will most assuredly lead to one's head spinning clear off one's head - LOL! And it's totally the big fun of being a fan of the show - all that being teased puzzle piece by puzzle piece.

As I'm the last living American not to be cabled, I don't have Sci-Fi and therefor have not, alas, see BSG either. HOOOOWEVER, I am into S3 on DVD now that I've finished my LOST re-watch. Oh, and speaking of that - one overall question I'm obsessed with afterwards is about Evil(?)more and how very much I think he knows. Look at all he's involved in, from S2 onwards. Another question is Miss Hawkings - is she attached to Des...or with Widmore...or is she beyond that, attached to Jacob or something even bigger? (Personally, I don't think Jacob is the top of the chain of command here...not at all.)

Just ponderin' :D

Take good care, y'all - Namaste.

Gage,
the movies I listed weren't movies I wanted to see, they are movies I own that I loaned out and had to literally take a tour to family and friend's homes in order to get back and return into my dwindling collection. I too LOVED Motorcyle Diaries and became an instant fan of Gael Garcia Bernal. He really acts circles around his peers in most countries because he's not scared of his image when choosing his characters.

Station Agent was quirky and I really liked it. Because I have hectic jobs, I tend to want to be left alone and because of this I have so many extroverts in my life who insist on drawing me out so I could totally identify with Fin's character on that level. The dwarf thing - not so much - lol. Great movie and the ensemble of characters was a fantastic character study all around.

I have not watched BSG *ducks* although I've heard great reviews for years. I don't know how you all do it. I barely have time to keep up with LOST and it's on hiatus half the time. I'm thinking of just purchasing the series to totally catch up.

I catch up with any TV and movie time on Sundays and that's when I run through all of my Netflix rentals.

I'm watching the rentals Viva Cuba, I AM Legend and the Jekyll discs today.

HELP!!!!Me guys!!!!I'm LOST Deprived!!!!I'm Jonesing!

While doing yard work yesterday
I had some LOST thoughts and
I believe POV is crucial to LOST
since no 2 people stand in the exact spot
at the exact same time We ALL see things
from many POV's and this is shown in each
of our LOSTies and OTHER's 'Memory' of the crash
We've seen this from many POV's now and NO 2 are the same
Perspective is a tricky thing and
we "Fusie's" don't even see LOST the same way,
No really! We don't!We each have a different perspective
and see it from a different POV
We know the FF's aren't thier memories...or are they?
Now wouldn't THAT be a LOST twurn?
Hey,maybe they in some way will know how things end
and want to "GO BACK" in time not to Teh Island
but,"GO BACK" in time to "Course Correct" things
My 12 yr old said to "correct"the course of the plane
and stop the crash from ever happening

I nEEd COFFEE!!!Where's OldManFan's cart????

Patty searches and finds the cart
and a pot with 2 day old sludge in the bottom of it
pours the sludge into a cup,
sticks it in the convient microwave
4,8,15,16,23,42,or so,seconds later
She adds some creamer and sugar and than
snuggles into her Lay-Z Boy lounge
with her blankey and 'Duma Key'

Must get my mind off of ALL things LOST

11 Days 13 Hours and 15 Min.s
to wait,till I'm LOST,again

DiamondLife and YuKai: I am sorry both of you were disappointed with Sweeney Todd, but just the idea of a musical being about a barber who seeks revenge by killing people with his shears and then sends them down a chute to be minced into meatpies by his landlay who runs a meatpie shop -- not exactly The Sound of Music-- is enough for me. I believe that there is a tape of the original Broadway cast performance...if its available please check it out, maybe you will see the story at its best, and then be totally with me that this is the performace Depp was meant to play his whole life.

diamondlife: Of the films you mentioned wanting to see, I have seen Motorcycle Diaries and the Station Agent and loved both of them. My favorite of the 2 would go hands down to Diaries...excellent film, seriously great on all counts. Let me know what you think after your viewing...

Lija: I tend to think like my fellow Dharmaknight Patty...I think they are not memories at all, just info we are meant to see to flesh out their characters...

and speaking of the dharmaknights...

aYeYe: All Hail BSG...last nights episode brought back the goods...I was a tiny bit disappointed by the season premiere...it intrigued me, but did not blow me away, but yet, last nights epi did...loved every minute of it...are they building things up for us to believe in the second coming of Christ, or something completely religious along those lines for whatever religion they conjour up in the BSG world?? It seems that way doesn't it?...anyone who watches the show knows there is a very obvious religious theme or better yet, complete storyline that everything is connected to...it involves every aspect of every story being told...I love this show...

but -- back to LOST -- I,too, have been hearing rumors of an extra hour for this season, but have not heard yet if it is true or not...if it is true I believe the scheduling problems would mount up...right now the final episode of the season is scheduled on the night that Ugly Betty and Grey's Anatomy have their season finales, and I believe, but do not quote me, that they also fall on the last night of May sweeps...so, if the producers are looking for an extra hour we may find ourselves watching Lost on another night prior to the already scheduled finale night...I would think that TPTB at ABC would want to have Grey's finale on in its regular timeslot and on the last night of sweeps...I could be wrong, but thats my opinion....all I can say is if TPTB at LOST want another hour to tell their story the best way they know how...I say give it to them and place it on any night or time you want -- I'll be there and so will my TiVo....

ALL HAIL THE DHARMAKNIGHTS!!!!!!

It's hard to tell with the flashbacks. I tend to think that they are there for POV and background like Patty said. However, some have seemed to tied to actual memories like the time Sawyer heard whispers saying quotes from his past. Plus the flash forwards can't be memories.

BTW, BSG last night? Wow. I've decided that in a perfect world they would find Earth and land on the Island so the two best shows in the universe would become one.

*high fives all the hockey fans*
My beloved Sabres missed the playoffs, but the Wings are my second choice. I'm hoping for Wings-Sharks and Pens-Caps in the conference finals.

Lija, I'd say it's a mixture of the two. I think the characters are reminded of some snippet of their past, but, generally, I don't think they zone out for as long as it takes for us to watch the flashback. We also see the flashbacks much more clearly than they see their own memories, seeing as they rarely recall the crosses...I'm thinking especially of Libby in the mental hospital with Hurley. So I'd say the flashbacks are sparked by the characters' own thoughts but are fleshed out to give more insight to the audience.

I'm in the middle of a LOST rewatch myself, and I'm also relistening to the D&C portions of the podcasts (No way I'll finish by the end of the hiatus!). In the one after SOS, someone asked why all the Dharma food is kid/junk food. Carlton finished the response by saying "You can't really, like -- you know, if someone's gonna be casually snacking, they're not going to be opening up, you know, a, a container of, uh, canned lima beans." I laughed my fool head off. Apparently that's only acceptable on the freighter!

*waves to all and runs off*

{{Tackle hugs!!!}} How's my fellow yum dip expert? How's your little one doing?

Gage
I actually loved Johnny, Helena and Alan Rickman. I love that Johnny takes chances and has not allowed himself to be placed in a box. I think if I had seen the other versions maybe I would've already been inclined to love it. The way the story ended was just somewhat anti-climatic for me after the build up. But do not revoke my movie club membership pass just yet. I've heard really good things about "The Counterfeiters" so I'm sure I'll love that.

I still haven't had a chance to watch Jekyll. I'll report back if it's worth the rental.

I've decided I'm going to collect all of my outstanding DVDs I've loaned out to friends and family this weekend. I started tonight by getting back from one of my friends Dirty Pretty Things (out of the UK which was a good movie), The Station Agent, Motorcycle Diaries, Danny Deckchair and Zelary Have you seen those? I have about 16 movies to collect overall!

Yu
As I wrote you, the extra hour is good and bad news. I'm more concerned about being on a plane during the time the finale is airing. It's hard enough trying to stay away from this board and the black spoiler font of temptation until it airs on the west coast, but to miss it entirely and have to wait to see it online is going to kill me. *Waaah*

Night of the Hunter is screening tomorrow - I can't wait! When are you going to see "The Counterfeiters"? Wanna try for Sunday?

olafandyjon, since my Kings are not in the playoffs, and I just don't feel right cheering for the Ducks, I'm going to be fluctuating and cheering for various teams. The Red Wings were very impressive last night, but the Capitals came back terrifically tonight, and Dallas had the Ducks number last night as well. Not sure who I want to cheer for in the end, but I'm going to enjoy as many of the games as I can see.

eta: Can I just say that Henrik Zetterberg is HAWT!

Gage, I have to say I'm with DiamondLife on the Sweeney Todd thing. I wanted to be bowled over and wasn't. That's not to say I didn't think Johnny and Helena were brilliant, because they were. And the production design was amazing. It's just that the story and subject matter were not all that appealing to me. And no, it's not that I have anything against the bloodshed, I watch more than my fare share of Hong Kong and Japanese action flicks with bloodletting galore, I guess it's the musical setting for it that wasn't my cup of tea.

ETA: Did you all see that Kristin over at EOnline is now reporting that Lost's finale will be a 3 hour event, stretched over May 15 for hour 1 and May 28 for hours 2 and 4? Apparently Ugly Betty is getting a 2 hour finale.

Hi--I've been doing a mini-marathon watching of LOST w/ my teen, and we started discussing something I realized I didn't know the answer to. So I thought I'd come here to ask for opinions.

When we see a flash-back, is it:
--the person thinking back on his/her life because something on the Island brought forth a memory,
OR
--is it just there for the audience, as a way to give us insight into character?

What do you guys think?

DiamondLife: I am sorry it took so long to write back...but I do have to say that I am disappointed you didn't like Sweeney Todd. I am a big fan of this story, saw the original with Angela Lansbury and then more recently with Michael Cerveris and Patti LuPone...and loved it both times...but this movie??? I was so not looking forward to Johnny Depp, because I had felt that I had already seen 2 masters do it the best - there was no way he could top them!, and then same goes for the Mrs LOvett role, I did not think that it could be topped....but then I saw the movie...and, I believe that this is a role Depp was born to play. And quite possibly this could be my favorite Sweeney portrayal. The only thing about the film as a whole, was that I did not like the flashbacks. I believe the story would have been served better without them. But, having said that, I respect your opinion and know one day soon there will be a film (
counterfieghters
) we see that we both find amazing. You do have to see the humor in that I was not looking forward to this film and Loved it, and you were looking forward and left disappointed.

I look forward to finding Jekyll, sounds great. Thanks for the recommendation.

When you do attend a future screening, get there early because your RSVP printout doesn't necessarily guarantee entry if everyone uses their pass for 2 people. I learned the hard way.

Here is a Netflix review re LOST Disc 1 that gave me a good chuckle:

"Wish I could marry it. We would have our honeymoon in Fiji, drink stormy rain water and make love to each other in a cave near a small waterfall. After a few months Lost would probably come to its senses and leave me for being too obsessive and remote controlling. "

Ack, missed Lost Radio again, but then again, I had taken a Benadryl when I got home from work and passed out for a nice, long lap. Hayfever sucks. I'll have to catch it on the DL.

DiamondLife1985, I'm also eager to see The Counterfeiters, it's still playing at a few places locally (Laemmle Monica, Edwards Westpark in Irvine), so I'm going to see if I can't get out to it this weekend. I also want to see The Band's Visit, which is playing at the same theaters, so maybe I'll do a double whammy this weekend.

I've seen Jekyll, it's fun. James Nesbitt is amazingly unpredictable in these, especially when he's not quite himself, as it were. And the conspiracy stuff, good fun, keep track of what you see, I was surprised by the twist at the end. Can't wait for a season 2 of this show.

Gage:

I'm just now seeing your recommendation for "The Counterfeiters." I put it at the top of my queue.

I saw Leatherheads - it was cute, but I could have waited for the DVD. George was smokin hot, Renee had REALLY cute clothes, but the story was so-so.

I just saw Sweeney Todd and I have to say I was disappointed to a certain degree. I WANTED to love it, because I luuuuurrrrve me some Johnny. But I thought the killing was so overdone. *spoiler* If Judge were the only one in which we saw the actual slitting and blood going everywhere then I could have liked it. But everyone was killed the same way, same style one after the other, so when it was time for the villain of the movie to get his come-uppance, you wanted it to be the grand finale of the murders. I know that sounds really terrible, but it was pretty anti-climatic for me. I like the old crazy lady twist though. I thought visually it was stunning and Tim Burton didn't disappoint. I love when a movie successfully transports me.

Because I didn't get what I wanted from that portrayal of the underbelly of London (lol), I have started the 2007 BBC series "Jekyll" that has gotten rave reviews from both sides of the pond. Have any of you seen it? I will start the first disc tomorrow when I get home from work. I hope it's good!

Here is the synopsis for "Jekyll":

"...In modern-day London, Dr. Jekyll's last living descendant, Tom Jackman (James Nesbitt), carries on his famous ancestor's legacy. Tom believes he can control his dark side and protect his wife and children, but a secret society that's followed the Jekyll family line for a hundred years has plans for both halves of Tom's personality. Gina Bellman and Michelle Ryan co-star in this offbeat adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic...

...Part Hammer-style horror-thriller, part X-Files conspiracy fiction, and part solid drama (the relationship between Jackman/Hyde and his wife, played by Gina Bellman, gives the fantastic storylines a basis in reality, though his flirtations with sultry assistant Michelle Ryan of Bionic Woman tip more towards heavy-breathing pulp), Jekyll is terrific fun from executive producer Stephen Moffat (Coupling, Doctor Who), who understands how to deliver engaging science fiction for a wide audience.
"

Sounds interesting, yes? I'm hoping this will appease my appetites for sci-fi, mystery and dark wit until LOST is back on.

[LOST VIA DOMUS: Eliot Maslow should be included in the show. The entire experience in the dream is not canon of the show, but it should be considered as a dream given to him by the island as a test to see if Elliot is to survive and allowed to live on the island.
Beady Eyes was never on the plane, and Lisa being killed never occured. All flashbacks that lead to Lisa's death are all created by the island. Locke is a manifestation that guides Elliot in the dream.
The reason he is not present among the group of the survivors is because Elliot and Lisa decide to stay away from them in order to prevent any events that are similar to his dream (game).
Elliot returns to help the remaining survivors or surviving oceanic six survivors because the island told him to; as he now knows that the island controls his fate and will do whatever possible, just like Locke does.]

Bumped into Andrew Divoff (Mikhail) and Adetokumboh McCormack (Yemi) in Nottingham, England.

Ade says the shooting they were to supposed to be doing in Nottingham was cancelled and they're off to York, England tomorrow.

Not certain that they're here to shoot Lost, but they're not listed together in any in-production titles on imdb.

Sherry:

How do you think they're going to resolve Elizabeth, since she's dead?

AyEyE:

I agree. The writers seem to be in what, in a symphony, would be the development section. They're
tearing apart themes into pieces and matching the pieces up with other pieces, changing keys, seemingly
taking both the orchestra and the audience far afield from where things started. That's the fun of
symphonies, even, in the case of very good ones, when you've heard them over and over. It's fun to see
the composer seemingly take things so far afield and then--bam--you find yourself right where you need
to be, everything (important) fully resolved. And with a really really REALLY good one, you hit the Replay
Track button 'cause you want to hear it all again. And be taken in again.

Maybe that's why all of us love to go back and watch the DVDs and the internet streams. Not just to pick
up details we missed or forgot--but we love, in Miss Sherry's words, to be taken for the ride.

blushes at chasart's compliment...

Why, Thank You! But I must confess, I rarely theorize. Not really good at it. And I generally just like to sit back and enjoy the "ride" and not try to think about it too hard.

I've been thinking for awhile now that the Libby encounters were a bit more than just coinkidinks. But now with Widmore becoming a bigger part of the story it seems quite plausible. Time will tell. I hope. cc: Patty, Ebdim9th, MissQuietPants

I've been very disappointed by Season 4 to date. Not that the episodes haven't been well-written, directed, acted, etc., but the producers have lost a particular balance which they maintained through the first three seasons and the loss of that balance has alienated me (and other viewers, I suspect).

Throughout the first three seasons, both Jack's Man of Science and Locke's Man of Faith could watch LOST and see support in the story of their own deeply held beliefs and existential viewpoints. You could see the scientific explanation for things, if that's what you were looking for, or you could see something more in line with New Age spirituality.

This season seems to have firmly pushed the series into the realm of scientific explanation. Even the time travel can be ascribed to the hatch electromagnetic implosion and Faraday's invention.

Now, Cuse/Lindelof could very well have an end game envisioned in which the spiritual takes its place alongside the scientific, particularly as it pertains to things like Jacob and the odd pre-island connections between the castaways, but I can't help but feel that we're only going to move more firmly into the rational world in the remaining 40 episodes.

For me and some other viewers, I suspect, the series becomes less compelling as it moves from the ethereal into the rational.
