I plan to pick up this trilogy by FlashForward author Robert J. Sawyer that is composed of the three titles of
Wake, Watch, and Wonder.
Here is a very attention-grabbing video promotion of
Watch, which has just been published. It's refreshing to see such an effort to promote a book. I'm certain the trilogy will be optioned into a major film or mini-series.
Here is the setup for the video. The main focus of the series is the idea of the WWW evolving a consciousness. The main character is a blind 15 year old girl that is given a chance at sight using a new technology inplant. Around the same time international tensions escalate when China decides to cut off the outside world from an internal political problem with Chinese bloggers. That event divides the Internet into two hemispheres just like in a human brain and becomes a catalyst for the WWW to become self-aware. The girl notices what she names "Webmind" and can converse with the new intelligence. The chimp (named Hobo) in the video is a secondary plot that has carried over from the first book and will no doubt merge with the other plot lines in the third book. This trilogy has my interest, for certain.
