Time (or timeline) of Lost

I have a fairly simple question:

Is Lost set in a set, non-changing dimensional timeline (as in no events can be changed even if you were to go back through time)? Or is Lost set in a timeline that can be changed? Or is Lost set not in a timeline, but in a multiple of differently timed Universes?
