Did we watch the same episode? I have never rated Lost anything less than a 5 and usually a 7+. . This time a 2 almost a one. I felt like it wasn't even Lost. Daniel's character was not in character. It was creepy. Many of the scenes were mindless. It felt choppy and disjointed. Almost like a high school play. (maybe jr. high) Daniel is one of my favorite characters as is Desmond and I felt cheated somehow. I waited til this morning to see if I had changed my mind before voting, I hadn't.
I gave it a 7. I always suspected Widmore was Faraday's father, and it was good to finally hear it said, but some things need to be explained still: the accents and the eye color, among others (perhaps Widnore really isn't Faraday's biological father?). I'm also not crazy about the pairing of Juliet and Sawyer, they seem so mismatched, a genuine odd couple. Most of all, I'm just getting tired of "We have to get off this island," "We have to go baaack!" and now "We weren't supposed to come back." Make up your minds already.
What a clumsy, awful way to write out Daniel. He was clearly carrying the idiot ball the entire hour, because nearly everything he did was out of character. And the flashbacks...they left so many questions unanswered.
Easily one of the worst episodes of the series, if not the worst.
Overall, this was another dense but thrilling step towards the season finale, and events are spinning out of control. The character focus is particularly compelling, and while the episode is a bit short on major revelations, it makes up for it in major implications.
It was a solid episode, but could have been a lot more powerful and moving. Some of the flashbacks could have been replaced, so we could have seen the experiment on Theresa. It did feel a little disjointed, and the gun battle part didn't feel natural. The guns weren't necessary in this episode at all. I had expected a spectacular episode like "The Constant". It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. Overall, I gave it a 7.
I want to give it a 10 but I can't give a 10 to an episode that likely killed off one of my favorite characters.
EXACTLY my feeling. The ep was full of interesting backstory, and I was very excited for a Daniel-centric episode but feared it would be the end of him. My favorite for the first seasons was Charlie, so someone out there in Lost-land hates me.
