Once again, I am not watching it; not even accidental or intentional spot-checks this time.
But I did watch 2 of Casey's youtubes, based on posts elsewhere, and he could go FAR in the music business. He has the looks (not that that should really matter); he's charming, humble, has a really good voice that expresses emotion, and plays the guitar very, very well (loooooooooove that slide). He reminds me of a young Toby Keith melded with a young Jim Morrison before Jim was aware of his own sex appeal (if there ever was such a time). I hope that with Casey's apparent naivety, "the business" doesn't chew him up and spit him out.
I've also seen rave posts about Siobhan's voice, but I haven't listened to any clips. She may not go far enough in the comp due to being too fringe (that shouldn't matter, either).
Ah, well, it IS a mainstream music entertainment show, after all. On the good side, at least they're getting exposure.
R.I.P. Keamy...wonderfully scary...I love him. Hope I don't have nightmares.
Favorite characters: Smokey and Vincent...TPTB killed my 5 previous favorites.
I wear ruby slippers to watch LOST.
I'm not obsessed with LOST...just very, very interested.
'“Curiouser and curiouser!” cried Alice...' (Lewis Carroll)
It's inter-dimensional time-travelling aliens invading the space station in Saturn's rings...
IMHO, they could've cut the entire bottom 3 last night without any serious repercussions.
BoSox is still the one to beat, followed by Siobhan, Big Mike and Casey.
fwiw: I kinda' liked Didi's quirky take on 'You're No Good'. I thought her voice styling was interesting contrasted with the sultry arrangement. iow, I disagreed with the judges on that performance.
Otherwise, there's been few inspiring performances this season.
ASIDE: Although I wasn't a fan of Adam Lambert last season, I really like his song 'Whadda'ya want from me'. I even bought it from iTunes. My favorite part though, is that big ole 80s synth solo. The sound, the note selection reminds me of what i loved about 80s synth pop - YMMV
Oh. My. God. I am officially in love with Casey James. Not in a Kara the Kougar kind of way, just truly blown away musically. His version of "Jealous Guy" was perfect. The "Little Wing" inspired guitar riffs.. Accompanied by the cello, one of my favorite instrument groupings. That's a song I would download and listen to again and again.
And Crystal Bowersox, what a talent. I want to see Crystal and Casey in top 2. They'd do great recording together. She's amazing and raw, love her.
Loved the bagpipe on Lee's song. I thought it was brilliant.
Siobhan was flat out bizarre. Her voice sounded affected, restrained and somehow like she's deaf (wierd tongue suppression thing she was doing)
This was the first episode in a long while that I watch in entirety. Twas a good one.
And now here is my secret, a very simple secret.
It is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye.

What took ya so long? I've never bought anything of AI contestants, so there is a first about to happen (hurry, Casey!).
I haven't heard "JG" yet; oh no, "Little Wing", really? :heart

Hey Tabs.. I've been kinda medicated to the point of zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz for a while (pulled muscle /tendon/ owwww) so I haven't stayed awake for an entire AI in a while. Just coming out of that fog
Here's the video.. Some of the guitar reminds me of Little Wing. Sheesh, this sounds better every time I hear it.
So big Mike got America's boot, but the judges decided to save him.
I like him. I'm not sure I would've kept him though. I still don't think he'll win. In fact, he may yet go this upcoming week when two get the axe.
One thing is for certain, as far as I'm concerned, at least we don't have to deal with the 'beg for survival song' charade anymore this season. I really dislike the way that has been implemented.
Casey was good, real good. I think he may well have been the best this week. Still, I've not been really enamored with any of them - yet.
I can't stand the "save" either. It's so stupid, the judges huddling during the contestant's swan song.. A bunch of fake hype and drama injected into an already hyped-up show.
This is not a good season at all. Really the only two I have feelings for are Casey and Crystal. Ahhh, I just listened to the song again.. Still awesome.
And now here is my secret, a very simple secret.
It is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye.
1. Crystal Bowersox. I thought it was sung well, but the arrangement was cliche' and nothing special.
2. Siobhan Magnus. weird. It didn't work for me. I think it was the wrong song for her.
3. Tim Urban. Surprise! I liked this. I wouldn't buy it, I wouldn't even get a free download, but it was good.
4. Lee DeWyze. (see Crystal above)
5. Casey James. OK. (see Lee above)
6. Michael Lynche. “In The Ghetto” Siobhan who introduced him to the song? He sang it well, I kinda' liked the softer approach better than a bombastic one based on the lyric.
7. Katie Stevens. Sounded like it could've been a commercial jingle performance.
8. Aaron Kelly. (see Katie above)
9. Andrew Garcia. I saved this one for last because; Everyone but Ellen really disliked this. I kinda' liked it because it gave homage to the original, 1952 Big Mama Thornton version 1952 Big Mama Thornton version.
Sometime I wonder if the judges have any music history in their knowledge base. Frustrating.
Aaron and Katie should go home. I still think Big Mike is in jeopardy, and possibly Siobhan.
I'm looking forward to Adam Lambert singing Whaddaya' want from me..
