Why was the fuselage shown during the end credits? Two people watching with me thought that indicated that everyone died when the plane originally crashed. I don't agree, because I don't think that makes any sense with the fact that in the "FS" they are remembering the events from the island. If they died on impact, then those events never happened. But did other people think the same thing my friends thought? I really don't like that idea at all, but I don't really understand why they chose to show the fuselage at the very end.
I'm not sure why they showed the fuselage. I do see people saying that it was because they died during the original crash but that theory holds little weight. In the purgatory (Flashsideways) world they saw flashes during the island, all the way up to Jack kissing Kate at the cliffside. The island all happened, everything was real. Even Christian said so.
Seeing the pile of clothes seems to me that there were survivors... looking through the clothes... there were also no dead bodies...
Keeping the theories going... When did they die.

I agree, the time on the Island actually happened, because MiB needed to be stopped, and all our remaining Losties escaped on the Ajira flight that flew over Jack as he closed his eyes. But I'm stumped as to why they showed the fuselage as well.

As CS said, they all died at differant times (for example):
* Jack, on the Island, from a knife wound
* Juliet, from injuries after the Swan implosion
* Kate, at some unknown time after getting off the Island
* Hurley, at some unknown time after fulfilling his duties as Island guardian

last mystery of the show to keep us wondering for the rest of our lives...
My DH said the same thing (that it means they all died in the crash), and I just don't see that. I think it's shown to prove that the crash really did happen and that the island was real. DH is selling it as proof that the island was pergutory not the FS. I disagree. If none of that were real the crash site wouldn't still be there rusting away.

My intereptation is it's visual comfirmation of what CS said: we all die sometime. At *some* point in the future (on the show) all that is ultimately left of the crash of Oceanic Flight 815 is the wreckage itself. All of the passengers, including Hurley die.
