what a brilliant idea - to have the castaways remember their past on-Island with those flash insights. it brings back the memories for us too - remembering all the reasons why we've loved this show for so many years. it's a great way to bring all the years together in the finale and use it as a story-telling device. LOST is amazing as always.
Once I gave up on getting answers like I knew could never fit in the remaining time left in the season, I began to "let go" and enjoy the final episodes. It made this one oh so much more enjoyable. The only disappointing thing was that so many of us had already guessed what was going on from season one and we were told we were wrong only to find out we were really correct all along. Other than that, it was awesome.
I am pretty sure I hate the "ultimate" ending but I loved everything else. If I could edit out that scene in the church and just keep the rest, I would be happy. The online theories for what the FS was are way better than what Darlton gave us, sadly.
This was a brilliant ending to a brilliant story. I have enjoyed Season 6 because I turned off the theory noodle cooker a long time ago. Rather than trying to theorize about the sideways flashes, I just let them come to me. The ending was totally consistent with the season and the series. 1,000 times better than BSG.
The last shot was brilliant. Lost ended as it began.
