I found the journey of unquestioning faith very unsatisfying. That's how people end up in cults with suicide pacts. They buy into the unquestioning faith koolaid. I remember Jonestown very well. That is the writers message? I don't watch a show to take on the wrriters' message. As Sam Goldwyn famously said about the entertainment business, "if you want to send a message, call Western Union."
It is far more interesting to witness an intelligent exploration of faith vs. science than it is to see a main character who used to ask for rational answers -- give up ...
The idea that intelligent viewers are supposed to hand off their intelligence in emulation of this cop-out theme ... is absurd.
What scares me is the number of people who advocate taking off the thinking cap and inhaling the poppy dust.
Ohhh, SOOoooo well put.
Not only unquestioning faith, but there is even a kind of 'cultish parental disapproval'.. a condescending attitude by the still active advocates of the show. I watched Emerson on Totally Lost praising the ending, praising the writers, and then almost agressively dismissing viewers who are still questioning and discussing Lost, as loosers that just don't get it and need to move on. "Enough, already", was his attitude... "Grow up, it's over, and it was great. I loved it, and my opinion outweighs most people's".
I have to say that I always liked the Ben character, and was happy at the time that Emerson won his Emmy, but after the Totally Lost interview, I am truly turned off. I don't like being patronized.
This was a wonderful board where hundreds of people shared thoughts and theories and inspired each other to think and do research. There was one fellow that said that he learned more on this board than he ever did in high school! LOL... I don't need someone to tell me now that all those years of wonderful speculation and sharing, was only us being loosers who asked too many questions. I don't need someone like Emerson or the Darlton to be condescending with their viewers in an attempt to cover up their screw up.
Still sucks. Utterly sucks. I'd like to want to watch the series over again, but that last episode just ruined it all for me. Such a shame!
I think you nailed it with this statement. The ending ruined the desire to rewatch any of Lost.
Had the writers created an ending with connections to all the twists and turns, had they been creative in leaving a few questions there, but with solveable/debatable clues, had they linked the years of questions people pondered with mysterious surprises, this show would have been rewatched for decades. It would have become a masterpiece.
But because they cheated the viewers, and themselves, with a dollar-store finale, there is no reason to rewatch anything. It's just over.

I've read that so many times its not funny. The ending destroyed the replay value. Not buying the DVD set.
yep, i'll never rewatch lost or purchase the final box set.
Don't forget that if u dare criticize the writers on this forum u will get your posts deleted. The laughable thing is the show is dead and buried yet mods seem to be in overdrive to maintain damage control.
