Re: The Monster (Screen caps of images in the smoke)

What about that demon-looking thing on the tree? I know that's mirrored too, but did that pattern just happen to be on the tree?

Well, it's not photoshopped. I don't know if it was intentional, they may have been using a special lense on the camera.

It looks like it's part of the tree but very scary. There was someone on the board that was finding faces in the bushes, now if I could only remember who it was.

Bushes, walls, the backs of other peoples heads, the surf, the sky...

You name it, weird stuff has been spotted there.

Sam, are you thinking of lucky4me8? She says that she has seen children's faces in a lot of places...

That's just about the oddest sentence I've read all week...

Just thinking about gives me the creeps, the out-of-context-creeps, but still...

Richardstone: LOL! That made me LOL! What I meant to say/convey was that lucky has said that she has seen children's faces in strange places on the show, like in bushes and near trees. She has posted a lot of screencaps of these children's faces. Some I can, ahem, see, but some I can't. Well, after being a member of the Fuselage for over two years, I wouldn't be surprised if I was seeing faces where they weren't...

Hell, I even see LOST clues in shows and films that lived and died before LOST was even a twinkle in TPTB's eye...

What the HELL are these things on the tree?
Looks like during post-production they took half the tree and reflected it across the Y axis. I can't say why they would do it. My theory is that they wanted to shift the entire frame to the right, and to make up for the blank space on the left side of the frame they just made the tree wider by mirroring it. The tree looks way too symmetrical for this reason and if you examine it you start to see stuff. If one were to see the real tree in its entirety it would look asymmetrical and more normal. The human brain works in such a way that we can emphasize stuff like this and see it or imagine it as something it's not.

Right, the left edge of the shot is mirrored. Assuming that the screen cap is real, the only reason I can think of for doing this is a problem with one of the edges of the shot -- like they panned too far over and got a crew member or equipment in the frame, and didn't notice until post-production, and didn't want to have to go reshoot.
