OH NO! LBk, i so see what you mean, especially with james.
that's the thing. we won't really know who's evil and who's not til the end.
You could put Jack and Kate on a New York City street and have them pass each other at rush hour on a Wednesday morning. And they would stop and turn, slowing to watch each other go by. They know each other within the context of a universal recognition. They have met before this life. And, they will meet again, in another.
in fact TPTB have recently said for certain that she and Hurley are of the 'good guys'
It's Jacob that I'm questioning the motives of...What if what we witnessed as something 'nice' towards the kids in particular, actually led to them being the people they became later. Clearly, by his being in those places at those particular points int time, he knew what they would lead to... The more I think about this the more I'm totally creeped out.

exactly! He encouraged Kate to steal, Sawyer to be vengeful and angry, Sayid to feel alone and ultimately work for Ben...
We were shown Jacob in a good light, so maybe its all to have the twist that hes not a "good" guy

and theres no way Kate is evil !
No, she's the only one in fact that has been against killing since the initial crime. She couldn't even stand to see the baby boar hurt (and this from the girl that grew up hunting--think about that).
Hunkyhurley is totally dead on...(I completely recant my previous statements on Jacob)...Not only those things...but, Locke should have died from the fall out of the window.
I wonder what would have happened had Kate been stopped at that point in time?

If kate had been caught, cops and her mother would have been at the store. She might have become a totally different person ! Crime free, and maybe not as headstrong. Same for Sayid and Sawyer.
Sayid would have lived his married life and been HAPPY. Sawyer would have been told its done, and he would have moved on. Jacob needed these people to be "flawed
The only thing that's keeping me from screaming right now is your avi..because everytime I look at it I crack up! ROFL. It would be even funnier if they did turn out to be sisters. (reminds me of the kids)
Jacob actually saved Sayid's life. He distracted him so not to cross the road and get killed along with Nadia. There was no happy life-ruined by Jacob- for Sayid.

Did he? Or would she have continued with him holding her hand and made it safely across? I thought it was Jacob's distraction, in pulling back Sayid to look at the map, that caused her to be distracted...a bit like Juliet's ex.
