Re: The Leaggue of Nations: There's No Place Like Greggtown
At risk of falling somewhere between green crayon and purple pen - I'm going with that colour which is the second plus sixth (or twice the fourth) : octarine.
Never read LOTR - but I read The Hobbit when I was around... 11 or 12 I think; because there was this question: "What was Gollum's 'precious' ?" came up in a competition I was entering at the local library (I didn't know which book Ian Fleming wrote for children either, and now I know I still haven't read it).
I had a history of devouring European folk tales, dark, bloody things, frequently featuring child murder, transfiguration and being eaten by beasts, and the cover of The Hobbit was that really cool black and green and rune covered one and it had an illustration of Smaug sleeping on a pile of treasure too.

Sigur Ros is a great band. I haven't picked up their new CD though. (I'm so old school -- I still like CDs.) This weekend I went on a Kate Bush jag. Hounds of Love and Aerial are my favorites, but I like all the others, too. Even Lionheart (which really is The Kick Inside, part 2).
The Gold Experience is one of the best Prince albums from his early 90s period. It's got a great live band sound, so check it out if you get a chance.
But the important question -- do these things have anything to do with my favorite color? Maybe... maybe not. Has anyone guessed it? Maybe... maybe not.

I loved the video for "Cloudbusting" with Kate Bush and Donald Sutherland. I wasn't a great Kate Bush fan although I did love some of her stuff "Woman's Work", "Running up that Hill", the aforementioned "Cloudbusting". I had friends who really loved her though I found her too trilly.
There is a Canadian singer/songwriter in the same vein that I always preferred. She came out around the same time with the same sensibilities although, I think, a tad more whimsical to me anyway: Jane Siberry - one of my all time faves even if she's a bit loony.

ETA: nice shield! I saw ELE and thought extinction level event - but I've spent a deal of time reserching elephant birds and thylacines today so I'm of a 'there goes the last of them' kind of mind.
