I can honestly tell you there has never been a scene description that read, "Jack's underwear creeps up above his jeans. Jack immediately orders his underwear to behave, but like everyone on the island it ignores him."

Why hasn't there been a scene description like this? I just completely lost all respect for the writers on this show.

Let's throw into the mix the fact that Desmond revived Claire from drowning (in FBYE) in the same way Jack revived Desmond. Dun dun dun.

Personally I was surprised that Jack was successful in reviving Desmond on the soft floor of the raft, because to do CPR properly you need the victim lying on a hard surface to provide the proper resistance. On the other hand, he mainly needed to clear his lungs from water and his heart probably hadn't stopped for long. Oh, and it's TV.

Does this mean Desmond's going to die eventually in a course correction and this was just a thwarted attempt of the island to kill Des? *shrug* Heck, maybe it is all foreshadowing of the island eventually "getting" them - Charlie, Claire, and Desmond -since Claire is missing & presumed dead now. But it wasn't the island that strung Charlie up, it was a malicious human being, presumably Ethan or his helper. I don't buy into the Island controlling all human action. We're being asked by TPTB to believe that the island power, whatever you want to call it, intervenes at pivotal points to prevent people from dying or alternatively, to kill them. Human intervention supposedly just postpones the inevitable according to Mrs. Hawkings. So maybe Des is "next". It would kind of fit with the whole tragedy thing going on in Lost - reunites with his long lost love, and splat.

And what about Rose? She needed CPR too, and the island healed her.

i mean desmond was going to marry penny but then the island started to haunt him, the old lady told him that he had to go back to the island, he became such a mess, left penny and started his own journey to redemption...
